                            HOSTEL LIFE

It is said that home is sweet. But even then life at home, cannot be compared to the life in a hostel. In hostel, life is full of opportunities of amusement. One is constantly in touch with young men of one’s age. One can make friends with one’s hostel fellows who have varied tastes and aptitudes. He may choose his friends according to his own liking. Mutual discussions of their favorite film actors and actresses, long criticism of the latest picture seen by them, and story-telling, add charm to hostel life. Good arrangements of games and sports, Sunday specials and eating competitions, and day-to-day merry-making, make the hostel life a thing of envy for all.
It is important that students prepare themselves beforehand for life in a hostel. As for some, hostel life may also come as a big challenge.
When staying at Graphic Era University's hostel, students have to follow a certain set of rules and regulations as per the hostel norms. Like staying out late or leaving your room after a particular time at night or showing up late during meal hours are some things that are unacceptable. The wardens will warn you at any miscreant behavior however, repeated offence would lead to actions such as informing your parents of your behavior.
Most of the students believe that when moving out of home to live in hostel they would no longer have to worry about keeping the room is clean. But in reality it is quite the opposite. In most hostel the rooms are on twin sharing basis, so the room isn't entirely yours. You have to keep in mind your roommates requirements and concerns also. You need to be organized and keep your things in an orderly manner so that they don't get mixed up with those of your roommate. You are expected to behave responsibly and in a mature manner. Maintaining personal hygiene is very important when living a hostel life.
Gone are the days when your parents would ensure that you wake up on time. In hostel, you are on your own there is no one to wake you up on time. And if you don't, you'd miss out on lectures or early morning practices. Self discipline and sincerity are the two major attributes that students need to learn to survive a life in a hostel.
In a hostel, a student comes in contact with a number of other students. He acquires many good qualities form them. When a student sees his next door neighbor daily taking morning exercise, he also gets inspiration. He too tries to be healthy. One good student may become an example for other hostlers. When one is ill, all his hostel fellows try their best to serve him. Mutual cooperation, sympathy, and love are characteristic of hostel life. It will not be an exaggeration to say that only a hostel is the place where an all-round development of personality is possible.
Hostels provide the best atmosphere for study. If students enjoy the hostel life in different ways, they also work very hard when the time comes for it. Weaker students can always get help from their friends. When a careless and negligent student sees his partner of his neighbor competing for position, he also tries to follow his example. Hostel life not only develops the spirit of healthy competition, but also teaches the lesson of mutual cooperation.
In hostels, there is fixed schedule which students need to abide by, through which they are able to discipline themselves and learn to value time. They themselves are responsible for their daily routine work like washing clothes, keeping surroundings orderly and clean, arranging bed etc. and so become self dependent. Children from different cultures and backgrounds intermingle in a hostel, which increases a child’s tolerance and flexibility.

Living away from home in a hostel may pose many challenges but it prepares you for life ahead. It makes you more disciplined and responsible in your approach towards things. These attributes come in very handy in later life when you'd eventually have to move cities and live away from your parents maybe because you got a job in another town or just simply because you want to be independent.

What piece of advise we give the most and follow the least?

It’s easy to find someone to tell you what you want to hear, but  your true ally is one who tells you what you need to learn.
We all often give a lot of advice but we forget to follow them. You must know that there is a fact  that if we start  following  even half of the advice that we give our life will be much better.
I also give a number of advice to people but the worst thing I do is that I don’t  follow  them myself. One and the most important advice that I give and I think I should follow too is “TAKE TIME TO KNOW YOURSELF”.
‘Know Thyself’ said Aristotle. When you know who you know you are, you can be wise about your goals, your dreams, your standards, your convictions. Knowing who you are allows you to live your life with purpose and meaning.
You are not being selfish if you put yourself first every once in awhile. In fact, we all need to do this to make sure that we stay on track and keep up with productivity levels. Taking time for yourself means letting your brain rest, unwind and clear up a little bit. The more you work brain without a break, the more it’s going to break down and cause serious mental issues in the long  term.
A lot of people will tell you that university is a time when you find yourself and you figure out who you are. You can’t very well be doing that if you never spend time getting to know yourself. If you don’t know who you are, it can lead to problems later on in your life. It’s always important to make sure you take time to do this. This will also help you with your future relationships.
In a study done by the UNIVERSITY OF LONDON, researchers found that people who experienced the highest quality me time had the highest production rates at work. Think of it like recharging your batteries.
So guys, it’s time to unwind, kick back and relax for the sake of your well-being. In today’s busy world, it’s more important than ever to take some time for yourself and prioritize yourself. Get help with your work if you need to. Just take a few thing off your plate for a little while and give yourself some me time.
  MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF AND
THE REST WILL FALL INTO PLACE
